No. Apple Pencil is supported for pattern handwriting on iPad, and finger drawing is available as a touch alternative. You can also use the library, counters and typed notes without handwriting.

Browse patterns and projects, use counters, add photos, and edit structured notes and yarn records. The current iPhone version can display saved freehand annotations; creating them is an iPad feature.

Yes. Your imported library and the app’s local knitting tools work without internet access. Downloading files from external services, opening web links or accessing the App Store may need a connection.

Automatic iCloud sync is not available in version 1.0. It is planned for a future update. For now, export a library backup and import it on the other device to transfer your saved records. This is a manual transfer, not live sync.

No. The current version does not require a Purl & Paper account or a Google login.

You bring the patterns you are entitled to use. Purl & Paper is a tool for organising and working with them, not a pattern marketplace or a subscription to a pattern collection.

No. English and Simplified Chinese are available for the app interface, but your imported patterns and personal notes keep their original language.

Choose Export backup in Settings and save the .knitarchive file to a trusted location. Keep backups separately from the app. Archives are not encrypted by Purl & Paper; see Support for transfer and recovery guidance.
